Shell Italy is part of the Shell Group, a global petrochemical and energy company operating in over 70 countries with more than 100,000 employees. The Group is active in:

Integrated Gas and Upstream: Responsible for the exploration and extraction of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. This segment delivers hydrocarbon-based products derived from conventional oil and gas operations, deepwater exploration and production, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) activities. Additionally, it converts natural gas into gas-to-liquids (GTL) fuels and other high-value products.

Downstream: Encompassing energy commodities, gas & power, chemicals, mobility, and lubricant marketing, this segment—bolstered by Trading and Supply—proactively adapts to the evolving energy demands of customers.

Shell has been present in Italy for over 100 years, supporting the country’s energy transition and helping its customers on their decarbonization journey. As an integrated energy company, Shell operates in hydrocarbon exploration and production, lubricant manufacturing and marketing, and the supply of natural gas and electricity to industrial customers, including renewable energy solutions. The company is also active in the mobility sector and the development of chemical additives.

Shell Italy’s activities include high-profile global technical partnerships with Ferrari and Ducati Corse.

Through Shell Italia E&P, present in Italy since 2002, the company is the largest foreign player in the upstream sector.

Operations are concentrated in Basilicata, with two major projects: Val d’Agri and Tempa Rossa.

The Val d’Agri field, developed in a joint venture with operator Eni, is one of the largest onshore oil fields in continental Europe.
