Integrated Gas and Upstream: Responsible for the exploration and extraction of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. This segment delivers hydrocarbon-based products derived from conventional oil and gas operations, deepwater exploration and production, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) activities. Additionally, it converts natural gas into gas-to-liquids (GTL) fuels and other high-value products.

Downstream: Encompassing energy commodities, gas & power, chemicals, mobility, and lubricant marketing, this segment—bolstered by Trading and Supply—proactively adapts to the evolving energy demands of customers.

Shell has been present in Italy for over 100 years, supporting the country’s energy transition and helping its customers on their decarbonization journey. Operations are concentrated in Basilicata, with two major projects: Val d’Agri and Tempa Rossa.

The Val d’Agri field, developed in a joint venture with operator Eni, is one of the largest onshore oil fields in continental Europe.

The Tempa Rossa project, located in the Sauro Valley, is developed in a joint venture with operator TotalEnergies and Mitsui.
