CARBOSULCIS SpA
Carbosulcis, a company controlled by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, holds the mining concession for the exploitation of the Sulcis coal basin which has been extended in order to complete the activities envisaged in the mine closure plan.
Following the closure of the coal mining activity in 2018, the company carries out environmental recovery and safety activities for the mine.
The Company has also completed the disposal of non-hazardous waste in the surface landfill and underground storage and will be aiming at the reconversion of the site through:
- the execution of technical, scientific and organizational studies, research and experiments;
- industrial development and testing of innovative technologies.
- promoting the transition towards the circular economy through the valorisation of production waste, through innovative chemical technologies, the sharing of resources, the promotion of energy efficiency and alternative renewable sources of energy;
- the design, construction and management of electricity production and storage systems, creation of intelligent energy distribution networks and, in general, of energy production systems from renewable sources aimed at reducing the energy costs of the regional multi-sector system;
- the management of the real estate assets it owns for the purposes of reconverting the site;
Carbosulcis holds the Certificate of Excellence, for the achievement of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, ISO 45001:2023 and is registred EMAS:2004.
