DRI D’Italia S.p.A. is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Agency for the Attraction of Investments and Enterprise Development (INVITALIA) set up in January 2022 for the purpose of assessing the feasibility and then building and operating plants for the production of direct reduced iron (DRI), which is a semi-finished steel product obtained from the reduction of iron ore through the use of carbon monoxide and hydrogen.

The Company has assigned by the Law the No. 175/2022 to decarbonise the Italian steel sector, is commited to promoting the energy transition and ecological evolution of the Italian steel industry by contributing to the reduction of climate-changing emissions in general and, in particular, to the significant reduction of the carbon footprint through the use of hydrogen in pre-hydrogen production plants as well as through carbon capture storage.
