IMERYS TALC ITALY SpA
Imerys Talc Italy, a company of the Imerys multinational group, leader in the industrial minerals industry, deals with the extraction and processing of talc, continuing a centuries-old tradition that has seen this mineral become an important economic reality for the territory. The company was founded in 1907 and has its administrative headquarters in Porte (TO).
Talc is extracted in the underground mine of Rodoretto, located in the municipality of Prali in the Germanasca Valley, 60 km southwest of Turin. The mine is located between 300 and 600 meters deep under the left side of the valley. A pure, white and lamellar talc is extracted from the mine.
The processing of the mineral is carried out in the Malanaggio plant (Porte – TO). Here the talc is crushed, dried or decontaminated, milled and prepared for shipping in bulk, in big bags or in bags on pallets.
60% of the production is destined for export. The main markets are: cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, plastics, paints, food, agriculture and rubber.
Imerys Talc Italy’s mine and plant are certified according to the standards UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015. The Malanaggio plant is also certified according to the FSSC 22000 standards and, since 2004, has achieved compliance with the GMP guidelines for products intended for the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, talc for pharmaceutical use is produced in accordance with the IPEC-PQG guidelines.
